I don't want to talk about
My New Isolationist Phase.
I'd much rather talk about
some lazy bygone days:

For three months we were set free.
The summer months we could be anything.
For three whole months I could be me.

Exploring the city on my bicycle.
Playing baseball in the park.
Vacation trips to Colorado.
Telling ghost stories in the dark.

And when I got a little older
I discovered girls and rock and roll.
And when my summer days grew shorter
I started to wonder about my goal.

As I look back upon those years,
on all the laughter and all the tears,
it was the pressures and the fears,
all the praise and all the jeers,
that made me what I am today:
A man of iron with feet of clay.

The Old Man on the Mountain,
He sees things like this.
The Old Man on the Mountain,
He sees things like this:

After many years of searching
At first I thought this was my island
and my purpose seemed so clear.

And finally now, after all these years,
I recognize what I've been doing.
I've been wasting lots of precious time.
Here's a review that needs reviewing:

I've been wading through tons of phoney baloney,
slow train coming and big wheel rolling.

The Old Man on the Mountain,
The Old Man on the Mountain,
He sees things like this:

Now some here have the nerve to suggest
that words of Truth aren't fit to say.
They claim their Way Of Love is best
as if The Truth keeps Love at bay.

And some might think my heart is stone.
Well, here is what I say to you:
for Love's not Love unless it's True.

LOVE! - Doesn't need to be so blind.
We can choose the ties that bind.
I refuse to lose My Mind!
I Can Think and Still Feel FINE!

TRUTH! - Doesn't need to seem unkind.
When we seek It we may find
Some things are better left behind.
Still the Beauty of It SHINES!

The Old Man on the Mountain,
The Old Man on the Mountain,
He sees things like
He sees things like
He sees things like

Please, don't ask me about
My New Isolationist Phase.
I'd much rather talk about
those lazy bygone days:

Wondrous summers in Iowa.
For three months we were set free.
The summer months we could be anything.
For three whole months I could be me.

Ce qui cause mon tourment.
Papa veut que je raisonne
Comme une grande personne.
