Well, he sits all alone at a cheap Chinese buffet.
He's got no one to talk to but he's got something to say.
His friends wonder why he always seems to go off alone.
He just keeps to himself. He likes to be on his own.

He's always been a lone wolf who couldn't quite fit in with the pack.
But he had once felt alive. Now he wants that feeling back.
He fears he's invisible and that no one can really hear his voice.
He's a loner by circumstance and certainly not by choice.

Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
I see your smile's turned upside-down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
You don't need to feel so down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
There are people who love you all around.
People who love you are all around.

Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Somebody cares.
Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Don't you know?

Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
Sometimes loneliness is a choice.

It's the middle of the night and he's up wandering around.

In an upstairs room there's someone who can't get to sleep.
Their bed is too empty and she's sure she heard someone weep.
She doesn't understand the things that go through his head.

Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
I see your smile's turned upside-down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
You don't need to feel so down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
There are people who love you all around.
People who love you are all around.

Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Somebody cares.
Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Don't you know?

Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
Sometimes loneliness is a choice.

With tears in his eyes he's writing a note to his wife.
In his hand is a pen. In his other hand he holds a knife.
No one would suspect that he'd try to take his own life.
But then they never knew how he handled the stress and the strife.

He puts away the knife and buries the note in the trash. 🦋
Longing for sleep he crawls back in bed where it's warm.
With a sigh of relief she rolls over and lies in his arms.

Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
I see your smile's turned upside-down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
You don't need to feel so down.
Hey there, Mr. Lonely.
There are people who love you all around.
People who love you are all around.

Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Somebody cares.
Don't you know?
Somebody loves you.
Don't you know?
Don't you know?

Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
You don't have to be alone.
Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
You don't have to be alone.
Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
You don't have to be alone.
Sometimes loneliness is a choice.
You don't have to be alone.

"It's the middle of the night and he's up wandering around.
He's remembering the good times but that only makes him feel down.
Those good times are gone and he just tries to forget
with a bottle of booze and some girls with no names on the net."

Sometimes loneliness is a choice. Sometimes...
Parfois le soir est si noir, et solitaire.

"Sitting in the dark with a drink in his hand, killing himself slowly."
