You were always putting on one hat
or another, pointing and telling me which one
it was you were wearing seconds before you'd cast
some spell, speak abracadabra words meant to help
or sooth, scold, chastise or caress.
Whichever hat you wore, for me it was
the same. Your words ran together, a flowing
stream rushing in, forging life in hollowed out canyons,
tumbling into hidden places I never knew existed before
string of mystifying illusions you unveiled.
You may have changed your hat again
before I realized the words were lost to me. No matter.
Explanations were superfluous - a bald man's hat trick,
something other than the authentic magic I watched
embrace you as you tried to tell me more.
When you disappeared with all your hats
true magic remained behind, a roaring testament in me
to what will not be confined to your magician's hat.
A rabbitt runs loose in my green heart, glad to be free,
wishing only to be loved by the one
I always love the depth of your poetry and the vivid imagery within it. You have a unique way of saying things that always makes me think that although I can place myself within the happenings of which your write, I am not ever positive that I really fully understand the mystique of your words. All in all, your poetry always leaves me with the desire to wrap my mind around more of your words.
