Poem Artwork

Yes,
essentially
I have moved on
and off the grid,
freed of being fixed
to your faint star;
nevertheless,
never far.

I am circling round
a super moon
and back again
to when and where
now is then.
And there is
no need for excuse
or explanation.

No more wishing
on a star, I'm done
with resignation
of truth,
free to be
traversing
uncharted skies,
to fall and rise.

Love cannot
be extinguished
by force of your will,
star light, star bright.
I no longer wish
I might or might not.
I simply do.
I am.

That I am
because you are
I know and I choose
to carry on, shining
in a universe of One,
resplendent sun,
on dark side of the moon
in coldest June.

Warmed by
promise of centrifugal
force and propelled
into uncertainty,
I dare to blow out
all the candles,
flaming soul star
restored to radiance.

Untethered,
if still held
in love denied
and tried,
convicted by
a sea of flashing lights.
Blue bayou
fades, still fails

to stop my heart
from beating out
its rhythmic remembrance.
Six-syllable song
that rises and falls
with breath and whispers,
essentially,
yes.

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
