White Buffalo Calf Woman

Omen Turning her power loose on the four winds, sage grouse beats her instrumental wings, Drumming up energies. Grouse's habitat, diet of sagebrush, an endangered species. Wrongfully wiped out sagebrush. Researchers tell ranchers they can boost beef production by removing sagebrush to grow crested wheatgrass. Prairies are vanishing. White Buffalo Calf Woman. Beautiful maiden appears in ancient legend. She presents Lakota Sioux with sacred pipe. Bowl represents buffalo, stem represents all things that grow upon Earth. Year 1994, a white buffalo calf is born. Rare birth. Omen recorded as fulfillment of White Buffalo Calf Woman prophecy. White Buffalo symbolizes birth of unity among people of all races. Omen. i visited the lakota reservation a few years ago and was made to feel very welcome, it was a nice trip thru the badlands after that and into the black hills of south dakota, it is a trip i would recommend to anyone, as i would this wonderful poem

Well, White Buffalo Calf Woman did her thing and it bore fruit . . . er . . . a buffalo calf. Legend or non-legend, White Buffalo Calf Woman lives on in the spirit of the first born.
