My writing represents a collision between some of the stories I have spun over the years to my children and their children and a world of animals, mainly cats. The stories blend the real, the imagined and sometimes the wacky. The inspiration behind my first book Bernie Bolts Bergen stemmed from a cat that we sold to a family in Bergen, Norway and I wondered what would happen if he decided to return to us, back in Scotland. I didn't say that I lived in Scotland, earlier did I. Scotland offers a backdrop for the closing chapters as Bernie attempts to overcome the supernatural and the weird in his mission to make it home. Does he make it home - the answer is in the book. Book 2 is, as yet, untitled. The chapters are mapped out and Chapter 1 and 2 are written. The book is a little darker and should appeal to a slightly older age group but won't be out until the end of the year 2011. This partly due to an illustrated edition of Bernie Bolts Bergen being released August/September of this year. In my day job, I head up a teaching team in a College and have lectured for over 20 years. The writing maintains my sanity, or is it the other way around? I'll leave that with you to answer.
