As a journalist I worked for a variety of newspapers in the UK and elsewhere travelling widely and covering everything from wars to conferences and celebrations. I was one of the main contributors to A Chronicle Of The 20th Century, a popular history of the century and for my sins once even ghost wrote a book on the history of Finland for a Norwegian academic. The Finnish Government went and took a bulk order to give to visiting dignitaries. My first novel, A Hiding To Nothing, just published, is set in Europe. A young couple go missing on one of the most dangerous glaciers in the Alps, meanwhile a former Russian Spetznaz special forces soldier ransacks their Paris flat. And when Don Ward, a curious official from the UN in Geneva spots their Missing Persons poster he naively gets drawn into a world of missing Russian money, refugees fleeing the Caucasus and threats to those he loves. The impetus behind writing  A Hiding To Nothing came from a period when I spent a lot of time working in Geneva but also borrows from other places I know well across Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe including Istanbul. The Missing Persons poster was real - someone really did vanish at the spot my young couple disappear. The rest is fiction. The book is available on Amazon.
