i was born in 1979. it was 17th february - the day the famous bengali poet jibanananda dash was born in the 19th century. perhaps i was doomed to write poetry. poetry in bengali. my father is arun mukherjee. mother- kalpana mukherjee. father is a schhol teacher at ghatal. my family is an out and out middle class one. i well know what poverty looks like. i am fond of books. in childhood my grandmother - my mother's mother -came to live with us. she used to buy me books. when i was 14 my brother nirjhar was born. i was no longer the eye of the family.  my edcation is not worth mentioning. i was never a bad student, but without any kind of ambition. at least 3 love affairs came to ruin my career, but it somehow survived. i am a student of english. a post graduate (2002) . i started career by giving tuitions. then a part-time-lecturer at ghatal college (2003-2005) . now a school teacher (2005-) . my grandmother died in 2004. i was shocked. it was the first death in my life. i married my student priyanka pal (now mukhopadhyay) in 2005. she is a sweet girl, always. our daughter upakatha was born in 2006. now these two ladies are my world. i started writing poetry when i was 6 years old. in bengali of course. my first significant bengali poem was published in the journal kabita paksik in 2003. now i can claim myself an established young bengali poet. there is no important bengali magazine where my name is virgin now. i write essays in begali, too. they do not go unnoticed.
