A rainmaker danced on dry hard clay
Chanting, prancing, throughout the day
Asking favor -- he reverently sang
Mighty One -- send us bountiful rain
Barren dry fields -- where corn once grew
Give evidence to drought and famine too
Empty bread baskets and anguish abound
Animals lie dying on merciless ground
A weaken rainmaker and the sick do cry
"Mighty One -- do not our bequest deny"
The ninth day welcomes a cloud laden sky
With thundering clashes -- it does reply
An outburst disperses much needed rain
Tribesmen begin to rejoice again
All praise the great benevolent one
Relief and renewal have now begun
An exhausted rainmakeer lies down to die
Chanting again -- 'neath an angry sky
This weather warrior has given his all
May Mighty One grant his soul's last call
