Silencing your conscience, ignoring the knowledge of what’s wrong and right.
Abandoning your morals just because we think love may be in sight.
Becoming whatever is wanted, driven by a burning need to please,
Bending over backwards at their command, or dropping to your knees.
Overstepping all your boundaries in hopes of bringing them back with you.
Believing every word spoken in the moment, hoping in the end they are true .
Abandoning your self-respect, determined to do whatever it takes.
Oblivious to the penalty you may have to pay for your mistakes.
Commonsense and reason no longer exist, all that matters is making the feeling last.
Forgetting that a fire this intense consumes and destroys things fast.
Denying the fact that you’re not their object of love, but merely a part of their good time.
And that reality is a result of your burning need, it’s not their crime.
When the fog fades, and you see distance in their eyes instead of love and joy.
You’re slapped with the cold truth that to them you were just another toy.
No love was received, there’s no happiness, only self-hate.
Wanting to slip back into the fantasy, but you’re alone, it’s too late.
Is destruction and possible death a fair reward for our attempt at receiving love and affection?
Are we thought of as less because our sacrifices and risks resulted in loneliness and rejection?
All we want is to be loved and accepted, are we really the trash they see?
How different would I behave and feel if someone would just for once love me?
