That inner self that prompts you to pay attention to yourself, sometimes.

Poem Artwork

There's a need inside of me

to seek who I was meant to be

not the guy I appear

just the one that could have appeared.

A crazy thought that if I had never

gone in a certain direction

or if I had taken that job

and moved to South Africa

would my life had been any better.

Oh I smile maybe maybe

its just inner self playing games with me,

disturbing my little pond of life

creating ripples

that make me feel a little insecure

maybe their right

I'm not so sure.

If I had could rattle on all night

talk about the people that have passed through my life,

how they all influenced me

taught me lessons that now I see,

yet I moved on

said my goodbyes

now inner self asks me why.

So where I stand is who I am

inner self and I

in a forum of words

filled with what if's

and also rans.

I CAN APPRECIATE WHAT YOU'RE SAYING AND YOU'VE SAID IT EXCELLENTLY BUT, AT THE END OF THE DAY...OUR 'DESTINATION' IS STILL SURE AND THIS IS WHAT COUNTS. WHOM WE'VE MET ALONG THE WAY, THE THINGS WE'VE ACQUIRED OR LOST, WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED OR DIDN'T...THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE 'THINGS' WILL ULTIMATELY FADE...WHEN WE AT LAST...GET HOME. BUT NOT ALONE. I ENJOYED THIS, JOHN. MY FIRST READING FOR THE DAY AND JUST THE WORK I NEEDED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

We all have "what ifs" and "also rans." It's part of our nature to wonder about what would've happened if we had made certain decisions another way. I think it's better not to dwell on that but focus more on the future.

Fantastic poetic thoughts John...
Truth be known I think most of us feel this way.
BIG decisions changed my life.
For better or for worse, blessing or curse?
My wife-to-be could not go along with me to Hawaii.
So I asked to have my orders cancelled and instead the Air Force sent us to Japan.
Some of the blokes thought I was crazy. But looking back over 28 years I have to say It's been oh so grand!
Yes, every now and then I think about how life would be had I gone to Hawaii.
I could go on, but I must go to the john.

That's life!

John Michael
