There’s an old tree…
on a hill…for all to see
Many spy its longevity
it appears…strong as can be
But as winds blow ferociously
the old tree does drip…profusely
Old Tree, what’s this flowing free?
seems you’re dripping…why? tell me
It’s my tears caught by God Almighty
in His faithful ancient bottle…tenderly
But old tree…why’d He allow the melee?
oh, that is for my benefit…so Wise is He
With my drippings He’ll water liberally
as we draw closer like leaf and breeze
Strength comes in His Love’s reprieve
I’ll clap hands in a homage rhapsody
Absorbing His Light…more deeply
and through Him…miraculously
My branches will grow…grandly
wide and abundant and shady
Being a shelter to so many
who know He is worthy
To be Praised…verily
for...this old tree

I have seen trees wave at me in the wind, but never clap their hands… Maybe knock on the window pane in a storm… Tap, tap tap tap.
I used to climb behind my property to an old oak on a high hill, that while I was there, became isolated when an interstate highway was built directly below. Around that tree on the ground were the huge rotting branches that had fallen over the centuries from windstorms from that huge tree. I guess a way of nature pruning. Like the deer do, when a tree is young and to clear out the lower branches so that the forest opens up underneath.
