*The Orchid* You gave me an orchid That birthday of mine Your child like voice said It was hard to fine And, it will soon be dead. Everyday you stop by Your smile, say’s oh my That orchid’s still alive Look at all the new growth Why hasn’t it died? I turn to you with A twinkle in my eyes Look how beautiful It continues to grow Intense color so aglow. I water it, talk to it Nurture it along Knowing in my heart It will continue to thrive Until the day it dies. Deborah Ann Tornillo Copyright© 2009
