It's Friday night and I'm all alone.
I'm sittin' in my favorite haunt.
The band gets started on their first set.
The waitress asks me what I want.
Just then I look over and I see this girl.
She's sittin' there in the corner.
She's wearin' a light blue top.
She's showin' lots of cleavage.
She know's she's lookin' mighty nice.
And then - just then
I know what it is I really want.
She's got eyes the color of Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.

Angels sing. Angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.
She's got eyes the color of Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.

It's after midnight and I'm still here.
I don't got nothin' better to do.
The band is really rockin' now.
Playin' "I Just Want To Make Love To You".
Just then I look and I see that girl again.
She's out there on the dance floor.
She's dancin' with another girl.
They start dancin' close together.
I don't know why they do that.
But I know - I know
just what it is I really want.
I bet those lips taste just like Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.

Angels sing. Angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.
She's got lips that taste like Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.

It's gettin' closer to closin' time.
I think I've had enough to drink.
The band starts playin' "Dirty Deeds".
It's gettin' harder and harder to think.
I look around and I see that girl again.
She's back out on the dance floor.
She's dancin' with a guy this time.
I don't know just who this guy is.
I just know that he's not me.
And I know. I know!
I guess that I'll just have a Coke.
I bet those legs reach up to Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.

Angels sing. Angels sing.
I wanna hear the angels sing.
Her legs go all the way to Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
Her legs go all the way to Heaven
and I wanna hear the angels sing.
I just wanna hear the angel sing!

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.

This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given day.
