Part two in the poem The Pebbles Beneath me.

Poem Artwork

Little was the time I had left as the snow flurries came in over the windswept hills.
Taking a deep breath, I trudged on through the darkening night through the coming storm. I could see the lights of the little village in the near distant.
I could almost feel the night closing in all around me wanting nothing to change nothing to intrude on what I had waited twenty year for. Twenty long hard years of hating, dreaming, lusting, remembering how it should have been.
I was free Elizabeth oh how you thought I would never break free from that stake in my chest, how you dreamed of the fish, snapping turtles devouring my cold rotten flesh, eviscerating your poor lover.  Chocking on my purified swelling entrails, oh my lover, the intoxicating, sweet smell of death, does comfort me so.
Never a moment of peace in my mind, they would not eat away at me you fool. I control their feeble minds, doing my bidding.  Gnawing, yes, they gnawed away and spew out the grains of mud soaked blood stained wood, caressing my wounds, kissing me gently as the pebbles beneath me moved me in exotic dance, up and down and I dreamed of this moment, for twenty years I dreamed.
As if yesterday was never more than just a moment away, a finger tip in time, I have found you my love. Now has come the time for you to taste my sweet love, what  it is to know that mercy does not fall like the gentle rain, bull shit, mercy is bull shit, I love you Elizabeth, mercy is a blizzard, of pain, I’m outside your door…….

The redemptive power of love finally wins in this well-imaged narrative, Eugene.

A good solid story poem of both horror, and love. I like the way you wrote this. It was a clear writing. Extremely well done, Eugene.

GOD BLESS
