My dad left me to fight for myself in this cruel world, I almost drown!
I'm going to be quite candid, as a baby I was left stranded. My father deserted his responsibilities, many years I suffered many hostilities. Still I grew positive in attitude, and to this day I have strong fortitude.
Mom did the best she could, but seems like dad never understood, little babies also need a father, still he never did bother. Even though little baby is grown, he still misses a father never known.
The tears have dried up, yet the feeling is still corrupt. Time is suppose to heal, but I still choke on the pill. Yesterday seems so far away, dad I'd still like to hear your say.
It is this time of year when these things are felt most Grady!

I am reminded of this whenever I see a child that has been abandoned with his mother. Sometimes although it does not make sense to you there is a real reason. Sometimes with some of the fathers that I have seen it was a kindness that they did leave. Trust me I know too many men like that. But perhaps someday you will have the answer.
This is a crushing poem, Grady. I don't understand how a father could walk away from his children and never look back. I don't think wounds like these ever heal. It is strange that thread that binds you to your father, even though you have never known him. It is unfair that your life should be scarred by his lack of responsibility.

This one moves me a lot. Sometimes the adults do the things that baby don't understand. Unless you forgive your father for doing so, you will always have tears. First take all the resentments our of your heart, think that whatever he did was under special circumstance that perhaps was just good for both you and your mother at the time. Then look for him. Your mother should not try to stop you from looking him up.

P.S. I was away from my parents between 2 - 7 years old. Just living with my grandparents on my mother's side; but after I came back to live with my parents, I have no resentments toward my dad. He did not come to see me in the hospital when I was born. ~ SA ~
