Sometimes I'd love to be in a better world rather than stuck here.
Hello mother, hello father, here I am in this world of rather. I'd rather be in a nicer place, one that would keep a smile on my face. Some joy in my heart, right from the smack on the azz start.
Instead I'm here roller coaster riding, happiness and sadness dividing. I'd rather be happy all the time, but that's a fantasy that won't sublime. I know better than sad, some edumacation I've had.
Life has surely taught, don't get stuck in a drought. Learn to fight for what's good, like a termite goes after wood. Take the fight to the enemy attacking, and don't get caught slacking.
But I've been slacking around, stumbling toward the ground. I stay above water swimming, but I'm just barely skimming. Lately I've been thinking, I'm almost sinking.
I'd rather stay up, than to be down corrupt. But this game of life is winning, I'm getting old and my hair is thinning. I figure sooner or later, I'll be with the potatoe.
"I'd rather stay up, / than to be down corrupt." These two lines could be in the preface of the novel I am writing right now (that's why you don't see me around much, too bogged down with it). It is all about a guy who has grown weary of the b.s. factor and is looking for salvation back in his hometpwn he left some eighteen years ago. Loved the poetry.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
