If you write one poem
you'll write two
Next thing you know three
will be coming through
I started out with one
no telling when I'll be done

Maybe never
it seems I'll be
versing forever
And it is personal
don't have much to do
with business depearsal
Of course making a profit
is a constant rehearsal
Anyway I see no
poetic reversal

One poem wrote
many more might float
of course don't start to gloat
until the verse takes air
even if your verse is good
it might not be treated fair
But if the poet hangs in there
one poem maybe the beginning
of a life long love affair
