Shadow Knows

A man can turn away from the mirror, but he can't out run his shadow.

A man can duck and dodge
the mirror
feel more superior
think others are inferior
but the shadow knows that
he is no better
and the devil is his babysitter

The shadow stalks
and silently it talks
follows a man everywhere
he walks
No matter how fast he runs
what the shadow knows stuns

Even under the cover
sooner or later the shadow
will discover
his true  romantic lover
To any mans surprise
the shadow needs no eyes
but neither does it disguise
The shadow don't always show
but it always know

Amusing, enjoyable poem. It makes me think of 2 things right away--The Shadow radio drama, of which I was an avid fan as a kid. "Who knows....what evil lurks in the heart of man? The Shadow knows." That was the intro, followed by a spooky-sounding laugh.
Second, there is one who knows everything, God, who searches the hearts of men. Something to think about!

Wonderful! They say a man can cast a large shadow but is it the one he wants to cast or is it large and evil? One must search his soul diligently to find this one.
