The only goal to thirst for.

My thirst is for the best
until I get it I will not rest
But these older years
messes with my zest
and pains and aches
do arrive to pest
I reach for the sky
up from the ground from
which one day I'll die

I keep right on reaching
and life keeps right on teaching
even the holy man preaching
will die in the dust
one day be burried in the crust
but reach we all must

Reach for a dream that
keeps on fading
trying to steer clear of
evil trading
Barely staying above water
wading
Trying to ignore the thunder
knowing for sure one day
I'll be sucked under
But life is still a great wonder
even as I stumble and blunder
