I Wish

I wish I could be your true love.. But only for a day.. Play house.. Pretend.. Like we did in younger days.. In the days when my heart would open up enough to let you in.. And your heart could open up.. without the fear that you would get hurt.. But we are adults now.. And know better.. We know about the games people play.. Know they can destroy lives.. Destroy all in it's way.. Ahhhh... But I wish.. For an hour to show you who I am... I wish for an hour .. To know you for who you are.. Not the child that I remember from many years ago.. But the man standing before me.. With shadows in his soul.. I want to reach those shadows.. Hold them in my hand.. Take the pain they come with.. Vanquish them from your mind.. Then perhaps we could have our day.. Without thinking we are wrong.. For just wanting to live young.. One last time.
