I used to make up nonsensical poems for my son, to keep him amused when driving him home.

Little miss Di how she did cry

She cried and cried

Till she cried a puddle

Up to her muddle

Caused a bit of a fuddle

She cried and cried

"Quack, quack" uttered a passing drake

She’d cried a lake

Postman tried to deliver

She’d cried a river

She cried and cried

She cried a sea

I’ve a notion

She made the salty ocean.

It reads so easy and fluent, Andy, as it should
for a child, and great fun; for the adult
it has another resonance, especially in those final lines.
