Unless a trouble in the east is touched by those in the west and until we see a mosquito bite in the north is felt by those in the south, we can not hope to live in a morally healthy globe. We must all consider ourselves as brothers and sisters. Brother is just a title. To you if you are a female I am a brother. Brother Abdi Noor,
I am a Somali and am consequently compelled to consent to the idea that we are all brothers and sisters. After all, it’s derived from our belief system that all human beings originated from a single male and female, Adam and Eve. So genealogically, we are all related. It’s also within our belief system that we were deliberately divided into nations and tribes and advised not to despite one another but respect the diversity in our creation.
If all that is believed were practiced, we would rid the world of many problems. In the Somali context, despite being one of the most homogenous countries in the world, the country is unfortunately conflict-ridden by causes that contradict the very cores of our belief system. We are so often deliberately deceiving ourselves by making ourselves oblivious to all that we have in common and share, and are only conscious of the relatively minor differences we conceive or construct. Hatred that is conceived against another, based solely on that person’s ascribed status, after belief in this system of brotherhood must be the greatest hypocritical phenomenon in our world.
Until we love for our brothers what we love for ourselves, we will live in a state of hypocrisy. And you, Abdi Noor, constantly confront and are feared by hypocrisy.
Abdi Noor, this is why I think you will make a difference in Somalia!
You are a force for good, and your wisdom shouts across the great divide of all people! I pray you are heard by many for you are a brother to be proud of and one I'm thankful to be a sister to!

Brother Abdi-Noor, for too long in my own life I did not hear your words and then, when at last the echo of your plea for reconciliation came across the deserts and mountains between us, I remained entrenched, afraid. but I would join you to bridge this divide that is killing those who will not survive its gap. and I will sing a song of healing for our broken family.
