Somalia has been a theatre of war for a long time in which an unending drama was being staged. Only the role players and actors have been changing from time to time while the storyline remained the same. After sixteen years of conflict and strife we have now two groups on the stage. One is the Somali Transitional Government assisted by well-equipped African peacekeepers under the auspices of African Union. On the other hand we have the remnants of the Islamic courts who are trickling down in some major cities to re-start some activities against the TFG and their African peacekeepers. They are not as well armed as their adversaries and that might force them to change tactics o war in an effort to counter balance the arms disparity. And we know that use of disproportionate force against enemy would only lead to Iraq type insurgency in Somalia. Reconciliation seems to be a way out to diffuse this potentially dangerous political bomb
Ambushed, attacked and chased out
Ethiopian and TFG army routed them
American AC-130's have bombed them
But none of the leaders was killed
Islamic forces are slowly returning
Filtering back into cities and towns
Linking up with their supporters
Masterminding a renewed counter attack
Intending to fight AU and TFG forces
Who possess far superior weaponry
Are we birthing suicide bombers in Somalia?
Is my country a new front of war on terror?
Can Somalia afford to take more bloodshed?
After all it is the innocent who dies
Not the warring groups who exchange fire
It is a child's future on which they are gambling

Thank you very much brother Abdinoor for being a voice for the voiceless. This trend continues because it has advantages for warlords. They want to manipulate the civilians by building animosity among tribes and blowing up bridges of peace. This is their survival skill. The innocent stand to lose. It is an unfortunate reality.
I can only hope and pray for a better day, since I have no solutions for the leaders of the world who deny their Creator...

Abdi-Noor, as long as Islam comforts those who think God's will is found in a gun, this horror will continue. Along with this comes my own anger that so-called Christian leaders believe invasion and war-mongering fulfill the words of Jesus.....
Hold true, my friend. Your rejection of violence and the rule of the gun gives me hope that a way out of the quagmire will come. Hold to peace, hold to love.
...and the war rages on and the children are left with nothing except a future riddled with yet more war. This is not a way to live, unfortunately, the factions involved will never see eye-to-eye and no compromises will be accepted. The concept that brute force will be the deciding factor in any war, died with WWII, yet factions continue to fight as though they will be able to strong-arm their enemies into submission. So true, in war, it is always the innocent who suffer the deepest wounds and bear their scars for the rest of their lifetimes.
