Nation, city and town; Do we have them in Somalia? Bosaso is a town in the heart of the semi-autonomous state of Puntland and it is where I stay now for a brief visit. The scenario is the same in all towns of the county and Bosaso is just an example to show how other Somali towns look like.
Somalia is a nation without a nation
It is a nation without a national unity
There is no place you can call a nation
As the nation lives in a nation of war
Mogadishu is a city without a city
It is a city merged within the city
There is no place you can call a city
As the city has crumbled over a city
Bosaso is a town without a town
It's a town within a town of no town
There is no place you can call a town
As the town has yet to have a town center
A sad state of affairs Abdi Noor! I read that the united nations is going to help Somalia, but I think that remains to be seen,since their credibility is in the gutter! I continue to pray for your situation!
From the poem, I see that your beautiful Somalia is lost within herself. How she must cry.

Africa makes me crazy. In a couple of hundred years America has done wonders, with our help, we give more help to Africa, but greed greed greed, in a nation full of natural resources, the leaders have a lot to answer for. Much of Africa was far better off within the Empire.
I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Che had made it over before the Americans killed him...
The last line says it all, a town without a town center. A local government without leaders?? Sad, sad, sad--you and your family, as ever, remain in my prayers.

Thia is sad when a community of people live in such surrounding and hopeless war raging and no one to support them powerful yet very simply stated. Well done.
