Somalia is an orphan nation in the Horn of Africa. Mr. B. Lynn Pascoe, a highl level UN official arrived today Mogadishu.
Though I have never lost my father
I still regard myself as an orphan
I am a victim of a chronic neglect
My name is Somalia, a lover of peace
But possessed by devils of destruction
My Dad is United Nations Organization
Under UN trusteeship I was liberated
And in the years that had followed
I received some shelter and protection
But dad has not spared me from chaos
When things fell apart in the civil war
Dad had left me in the hands of evil
Monoesters of obliteration raped me
Being an Italian ex-colony for a century
I was brought under UN custody in 1950
Ex-colonies are protected by ex-colonizers
But in my case I was made a UN daughter
So every brute rapes me with disdain
And with impunity they loot my resources
I wish I were a British or French colony
Had I been so
I would have been spared from conflict
And if at all I went to war with myself
My wounds would have been healed soon
But I happened to be birthed at a UN clinic
Run by an Italian doctor with no manners
I am an orphan whose dad is still alive
You educate many of us Abdi Noor about your country, and I thank you for that. I pray one day Somalia will be the nation inhabitants like you, would make it to be, if given the opportunity!Blesings to you and yours!
