People flee en-masse to get safety
This is happening in our capital
Is Mogadishu a city or a battlefield?
Depends on which angle you view it from
If you are the transitional government
Mogadishu is a safe place to live in
If you are an ordinary Somali citizen
Mogadishu is most unsafe place on earth

The image reflects a sinister atmosphere; the tension is almost touchable. Military have the tools and license to kill and civilians increasingly are at the wrong end of the gun in recent wars. Currently Charles Taylor is being tried in the International Court of Justice in The Hague, The Netherlands. Such are scenes he has been in many times. It are the images that trail the ones in the photograph that we dread. But I guess not anywhere near as the civilians in the image do. It seems this world has long past the point where it was still capable of reversing scenes (that are the prelude) of insane violence. The arguments for politicians, criminals and the arms trade to continue to create horrific events are beyond the grasp of most. It is in places where few have access decisions of war and peace are made. Common citizens have no access to such premises. Soldiers like in the image make sure this situation does not change.
