Somalia has lost everything but not its dignity and beauty though one would see no trace of these two items in Somalia at the moment. Our women and girls are keeping them for us until Somalia re-establishes itself as a nation-state. The Photo which inspired me to write this poem is taken from the internet.

Beauty of life is peace
Beauty of heart is love
Beauty of love is respect
Beauty of language is poetry
Beauty of mind is the dream
Beauty of nature is the seasons
Beauty of the seasons is summer
Beauty of summer is the flower
Beauty of the World is Africa
Beauty of Africa is Somalia
Beauty of Somalia is the girls
They are a beauty by itself
Aren’t they?

The 2 ladies in the pic own fashion designer clothing company called Mataano (Twins) and live in NY, USA.

{related Story}...a somali girl in U.S college was asked by her American friends why she wears scarf (covers the hair). They asked if she is bald? n when she showed her head with her long curly hair they were surprised that she has such long hair yet covers her head..

The two twins above are good reflection of the looks of Somali women..I believe they r beautiful!
