NEW YORK: The distraught family of the lone American killed in the Kampala blasts was hit by yet another blow after the plane carrying his younger brother, who was headed home to join family members in mourning, crashed killing the pilot.
The Delaware family had lost their eldest son Nate Henn on Sunday when explosions tore through crowds watching the World Cup final in Uganda.
The 25-year-old American aid worker was hit by shrapnel from one of the blasts in Kampala on Sunday.
His brother, Kyle Henn, was aboard a small plane that crashed in North Carolina as he was rushing back to rejoin his family in the time of grief. Source: The Times of India, 12 July 2010.
On the other hand the Ugandan forces in Mogadishu have pounded rockets in the city possibly as a retaliation to what the terrorists have done in their country since Al-Shabaab, the Al-qaeda affiliate of Somali insurgents have claimed responsibility of the Kampala massacre. The Ugandans have killed defenceless civilians among them a family of five who were in a deep slumber as the mortars landed on them at midnight. The paradox is that in both attacks, the Kampala explosion and the Mogadishu rockets, innocent civilians were murdered. Those who have the fight between them are safe, the people are paying the price of their greed. We live in a crazy world ruled by crazy leaders. I wonder if this world has a people with a power to change, We look things from a perspective of race, religion, fake ideology etc and not from an angle of humanity in the wider context of global solidarity.
Terrorism is a breath of fire
Blown from the depths of hell
Counter-terrorism is needed
Not as a pretext to take revenge
But as a measure to save life
