I am as alien to me as my own soul.

Dedicated to Ram and million other kids who are suffering from cancer.Due to the expensive nature of the treatment they are bound to retire in the dark corners of the hospital in most of the poor nations. This is the paradox of the modern world. We have money to buy arms but we dont have money to save the soul of these little kids.

Poem Artwork

I don't have a foe
except my own imagination.
I imagine that
I am no more.
I am as alien to me
as my own soul.
I am just a withered leaf,
carried hither and thither
by every wind that blows.
"Life, of what use it it?"
For a poor lad like like me.
"Who knows the future of a seed?
It may become a rotten tree!"
Now, it matters not,
whether I smile or cry.
I am dead inside.
I am like a mere straw
thrown upon the river of time
to mark the velocity of the current.
Solitude, alone you are not;
I am as lonely as you are, my friend.

We have the cure for cancer, unfortunately there is not much profit in the cure. And that, my freinds, is the sorry state of Man at this moment in time. I said "good riddance!" to the last century. What will history, "the river of time", have to show for this one? My heart aches for these little angels...

Excellent write about a sensitive topic. I agree, billions of dollars are spent to wage a war that may kill thousands but not much is spent for food/supplies/medicine/research that could save millions.

Thank you for reminding me of the things that deserve attention.

I recently lost a close friend to Cancer. Despite all of the millions available in the so-called civilised West, we still cannot conquer this rampant disease. So heaven knows how you must feel over there without the funds available that we have Bhuwan. Very well composed write on a difficult subject

Such a sad commentary Bhuwan, but unfortuantely true.
There will come a time when this will be an issue in
the states I believe. All the money in the world can't
buy your health but it can help.

Bhuwan the world must also look to those in the mid east countries where all the oil is, the Arabs are wealthy enough to help, but No one ever mentions them or asks them for help and most of them like Saddam Hussein let their own children die while they build many palaces with money hidden in the walls for themselves. They are still finding graves in Iraq, holding masses of young people killed by their own government!

I think the world has to wake up to this pronlem you write of not just one or two wealthy countries but all of them!

mankind should take up arms to help these children, to help to ease their pain and suffering, for it seems that god has more important things to worry about ...

Bhuwan:
This is so sad. If there is one thing in this world I wish that I could change, it is the fact that children must be stricken with the worst of all evils -- cancer. I feel for adults with cancer, too and wish that all the researchers, instead of each going off in their own direction, would work together to collectively find a cure so that no one has to suffer. It is a dreaded disease that has affected many of my family members and friends and it is even more unfathomable when a child must fight the battle. Many times and in many areas of the world, the medical technology is not as advanced and the children die, as a result. No one should have to suffer, especially an innocent child!
Thanks for sharing this.

Bhuwan:

Tears wet my eyes when I see this little boy in the picture. What a cruel fate this is! This is so sad. I feel the despair and the pain of this little boy.
