The voice within me
often tells me,
“Do not wish
to become
a great poet.
Being a great poet
is not a big deal.
Every poet can
become great
because every poet
is capable
of becoming great.”

My son,
“Aspire to become
a real poet.
A real poet,
who values
the struggle
of the masses,
and develops
his literature
around them.”

A real poet,
“Who lives inside
the verses
of his composition,
beyond the
biological existence
and responds
to the call
of humanity,
and brings
in the mainstream-
The voice of the voiceless.”

But isn't a 'real' poet, a great poet?

You are both.

When a poet writes of humanity, he is writing with the blood spilled over the eons and will never dry until we all come to have compassion for each other.
You write from the heart dear poet and the pic speaks volumes.

You are truly a poet of inspiration. Wonderful write, Bhuwan, on the topic of "Poets". This gives us all the more reasons to write.

Who can better the thoughts of Dawn? Amen and amen. I left a comment on Jude's poem about the pen/heart of gold being the substance of a writer who knows both WHO he/she is and WHY he/she writes, lending weight, wisdom and authority to that voice and gifting. You ARE Poet, Bhuwan; it IS who you are: both great and true, and the gift of writing/poetry is magnified in your loving and magnificent words, thoughts and hands. You encompass both the reason and the spirit behind the word "Poetry": the living heartbeat of humanity. Bless you and thank you. My words are just not enough. LOL Kate xx

Fantastic poem, Bhuwan. If ever I knew a great poet who was great precisely because he actually inhabited the spaces of his verse, it must be you. In all sincerity, I treasure your poems because you dare to write the difficult words and you lend your voice to the voiceless in a way that stirs us so deeply. May your words be met by open hearts and minds always and may we offer our own response in thought, prayer and action toward those your poetry speaks for so clearly, Dawn
