Before my eyes,
A ghastly vision appears
Eternal anarchy of endless wars
Of Earth, Nature, and Heaven
Against the mankind
And his cavernous pride
For hidden in the chasm
Of his own light
Lit by the uncertain ray
Of fragile mind
Half lost, like in a trance
But with an erect pride
And gentle penetration
As glowing iron with fire
Over the dark abyss
Stands this modern man
With ruin upon ruin,
But still flying
In an illusionary dream,
Couched with revenge
And inflamed with
Momentary eminence
That springs upward,
Like the pyramid of fire
But descends suddenly
Like the faint breathe
Of an avaricious death
