Indian Classical Dance

Violin, veena, flute and talam
Follow our wonderful dancer, Yamini
Krishnamurthy

You'll be out of your gourd
with her movements and gestures, crazy
She's a colourful bird on the tree

Kathak and Odissi, dance forms
that reach the heart and the soul
and tell a story

Tabla, harmonium, sarangi,
instruments of beauty and grace
The dancer's eyes are very busy

Sitara Devi, I am liking the costumes,
Maddalam, Kuchipudi, it is a Hindu epic
A drama like Yamini Reddy

The flute will take us out of this journey
With light steps we will reach the temple
And give our blessings and thanks.

Surely joy is the wisest guru master
Dancers with bells on their ankles cry
spiritual like incense sticks and cymbals

Namaste, India, the land of Ganesh,
There's an elephant dancing in the room
and he's bringing great happiness.

 Reviews of "Indian Classical Dance"

Your range of subjects is phenomenal. I've always been fascinated by the Indian subcontinent and the people. Made some great lifelong friends I met in graduate schools and visited their homes in Pakistan and Bangladesh… unfortunately unable to get to India on my budget.

Not only the haunting music and the beautiful dancing girls, I was always enchanted by the sitar and the wonderful music it made unlike anything else on the planet.
