Fallen Star Into the fcking hot desert He rode with Samuel Colt by his side Through the canyons and prairie Following the nasty winds of time. Across the wild prairie he gazed Pillar of fire raged before him Tornado of destruction behind He stopped at Snake Canyon rim. Bible fell open, he began to read “and I saw a star that had fallen* from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit.” Wraithlike Darkness closed in fast Shooting stars crossed night skies Black holes sucked universal dust Beside the fire he closed his eyes. His demons snarled around him The rider lay peaceful and still .45 beside him on the ground יהוה‎ watched from yonder hill. 2011 © By Dayvid Graybill

I felt drawn into your words....I could hear music playing wildly too...I loved verse four especially.I think my recently discovered 'mystery man' could play this part well!!

Dayvid, this sounds like the intro of a novel. Seems like it could head off in many different directions... I know it left me wanting for more of the story. Could be that the fallen star came off from the front of his vest too, ya know? Great job.

You present quite a stark and vivid portrayal of the scene and the experience, Dayvid. Nicely done. I think you mean to write "sucked" in the third verse of the fourth stanza. I make "typos" often and I appreciate when others point them out so I can correct them. Thanks for sharing. Love and peace to you,

He might need more than a .45 to scare Jehovah off his hill; but it may very well work to keep the demons at bay for a bit. So yes, very creative this, really like the admixture of religious references and the wild, wild west. Sounds to me like a surreal trip back in time through the hot sands of the earth, opening portals and wormholes through the desert to arrive back at singularity, so to speak. Very cool, or hot, in this case. Tremendous.
