Aaaahhhhhh.....the blues

Poem Artwork

Nothing But The Blues

It’s nothing but the blues

Sad sax digging deeply down

Twelve bars against the riverbank

Taking it all downstream

Low-strung upright bass

Tall man plucking notes outa the cellar

Two quarter rests before

Just before the crash of a Zildjian

And the kid on the pedal steel

Took it on down the tracks

Old bald drummer keeps the clock

At 12 and 8 and 12 and 8

Unlit cig between his lips

Strat strapped low neck held high

Wailing sounds soar toward Memphis

It’s nothing but the blues

Body swaying slightly too much

Flor de Caña and the blues

Takin’ me down the line

Love the cool riff and groove of this one, Dayvid, which is so evocative and complementary alongside your theme. Great mood and tone, too. Thank you, Kate x

The sax does the blues wonders. I love the sound and whine of it and your images are excellent.

Jazzed up, id'nt it? Long live the wail of clarifying reeds. Lonestar or Memphis, blue suede shoes or long necks, music drinks in the soul...poetry of the mennos for safekeeping and protection of the treble cleft under the supervision of the canned pickles where vinegar is stout law and blues are violets that have been washed with prayer. Amen.

Pipes and Nothing But, Dayvid,
Sage

You had me in the moment. Felt like I was there. I don't get out much, whenever I can a good jazz or blues band, I don't want to leave, just listen to them until they quit.

You make the scene very compelling and easy to visualize-and hear. I've done a little music in my time and had my share of the blues...Sometimes both at once. The way you describe it is the way it goes down.

Love the blues even if I'm not blue. Why is it that you can listen to the wailing of some blues man and go away from it feeling good? Don't rightly know, but I'm proof that you can. B.B. A class act all the way. I know. I know. He was "packaged" by those who do such things, but he never allowed that packaging to interfere with his realism. Never!!!
