Git Back Gone (Song)

Git back up on that horse that threw ya.

Git back on that road that wrecked ya.

Git back up and git back on,

before your life is git back gone.

I know she left you, done you wrong,

no use in lyin’, she's long gone.

Life is a lesson we must learn,

don't always git what we yearn.

If wishes were riches we'd all be rich,

but life's not like that, life can be a bitch.

Git back up on that horse that threw ya.

Git back on that road that wrecked ya.

Git back up and git back on,

before your life is git back gone.

So he dissed ya, what's the problem?

Don't waste your time with all that squabblin’.

You won't find it at the bottom of a bottle,

rushing through life, foot on the throttle.

So, if you're hopin’ as life passes you by,

don' t wake up one day, just askin’, why?

Git back up on that horse that threw ya.

Git back on that road that wrecked ya.

Git back up and git back on,

before your life is git back gone.

before your life is…

git back gone…

git back… gonnnneee.

Love both the rhythm and the truth. My older brother felt he should follow my example and travel our country. He was a paranoid 60's child. Afraid of the draft and the rest. So having learned the guitar through Folk music decided to bring it along to buffer the evil USA. This I found out later. He learned a bunch of country songs to show he wasn't a Hippie. He was a nerd and too afraid to be a Hippie. He got to Alaska and climbed Mt. McKinley. And his country songs kept him safe. Your Poem brought this back. This is what a poem should do.

Do you put your songs to music (accompany yourself or have someone else do it)? Just wondering because you write catchy tunes that carry poetically meaningful "stuff." I could sing this. Thank you for sharing your creative gift, Ron. Love and peace,

I like yer pome, Ron. Lots of wisdom in this bronco-bustin' rite! Really cute, and as a rhymer, I especially liked "problem" and "squabblin'"

Love this song Ron, like all good stuff this has a great message too. The only thing is here in the south, we would say "git" back on and "git" back gone.

Great poem Ron! This one we can all benefit from for no life is perfect and we all need to get back to something we started some time ago. I have a clock I have been thinking of putting back together for 5 years. Time marches on...Thank you Ron!

This is a great life lesson for those who, for one reason or another, get down and out, then pick themselves up by their boot straps and move on. My 94-year-old aunt passed away a little more than a year ago. She loved to watch all the old westerns on TV. Her funeral was most unusual. At the end, as they took her out, they played the Dale Evans song, "Happy Trails." I said all this, for I wanted you to know how much she would have loved "Get Back Gone."

Love the idea, love the title (especially) and love the poem (song). My philosophy completely. How many times have I fallen down and gotten back up. So, yes, I can relate to what you are saying here, and nicely said at that. The rhymes work well to enhance the rhythms and the meaning. Nice work (again), Ron.

I've only just realized
It's what I've done,
I've lain in the dirt
With my bell well rung;
Eventually, though,
I gather my senses
And I rise right up
To get back on
The infernal beast
That threw me
Against the fences.

Eh . . . I left that horse alone waiting for me to jump back on more times that I like to admit. There came a day when I found my mettle and jumped back on. Of course by then it was much later than late. I had found my mettle nonetheless, and it served me well. Good song, Ron.

In a world that is constantly challenged with disruption and unanticipated falls, any reminder of man's tenacity (if exercised)is a welcome break. One can only hope the future provides more doers and fewer that give up. Times they may be a changing, but getting better?
