Thought I'd add a bluesy lyric to this sad fictional tale.

Poor Little Rich Girl

Refrain

Poor little rich girl,

Way down in New Orleans,

your daddy ran whore houses,

and other nefarious things.

So you ran off to Africa,

to save cheetahs and other big cats,

you met the great White Hunter,

and that was the end of that.

Traveled off to India,

to learn a guru's ways,

ate from the sacred cow,

ending your search's days.

(Refrain)

Arrived in Guatemala,

to save a Mayan child.

Discovered that it was a mummy,

the jungle, still too wild.

Off you sailed to the Arctic,

to save the humpback whale.

Encountered a polar bear hungry,

barely lived to tell the tale.

(Refrain)

For all your dreams and schemes,

little rich girl from New Orleans,

eyes were bigger than your stomach,

when you chased your dreams.

Ended up in an estate in Tuscany,

living off the grapes at hand,

never to roam in search of love,

across the world's vast land.

(Refrain)

This is such an imaginative story—I’m so glad I got to see it. Poor Little Rich Girl immediately made me think of the Shirley Temple movie. I used to watch all of her films as a child. I found your story truly engaging and wish you continued success with your wonderful and creative stories.

O.K.. You've been following me! (laughing).......Surely I jest. Wasn't Mary Pickford the "it" girl? I enjoyed this poem (song) so much. I had a tune going on and read it again......sang it. Very Fabulous, Ron!!

Love ya!

I wouldn't mind be a rich boy, but instead I am still the poor little boy...:) -e-

The poem is not about Shirley Temple. I should have used the picture of Mary Pickford, who also played in a movie of the same name... or perhaps, Little Orphan Annie.

Before the so-called stars grandstanded politics or causes, Shirley Temple had a head on her shoulders and did herself proud beyond acting.

Shirley Temple made a defined impact on this world. Her acting talent was great and she is remembered by many!....M

Sounds like me, the poor little poor boy from Boston. Enjoyed.

I'm not familiar with Shirley Temple, but I've heard that of all the child stars that had begun their acting careers early in their lives, some turned to drugs, and some turned to alcohol, but little Shirley grew up acting and lead a scandal-free life and was able to get a job that benefits others. She is one to be honored for her scandal-free lifestyle and not the other way around. She grew up to be a beautiful lady who led a well-balanced life.
