Pain! Pain! Pain! Ophthalmologist says I burned my eyes with acid. I guess I put the wrong cleaning solution in my contact case.

A Pair of 13s and Acid in Your Contact Case

Numbers today.

A pair of 13s.

For some, this might be an omen.

But for me a pair of 13s add up to 26

and that’s 1 less than 27,

my luckiest number,

because that’s my birthday.

And this all might make sense,

considering all the intense pain

and blindness I experienced since Thursday morning,

and today, the day of 13s,

I woke up feeling no pain and having good sight.

And although I believe Jesus was present somewhere,

it was a miracles of miracles,

involving doctors diagnosing,

chemists making eye-drops

and salves that took away the pain

and gave me my sight back.

Goodness, Dayvid. You need to be more careful about your eyes/contact lenses. You have made a wonderful poem out of a disaster.

OH Dayvid, u got to be MORE careful, even though the eyeball may heal easily, it is still one thing you do not want to ever lose...

Praises for that! The eyeball has superior healing qualities.

Once, many years ago working in the finishing department of a mobile home factory, I got a piece of steel in my eye that was irritated immensely by my hard contacts. With a scalpel, an eye doctor deftly removed the sliver of steel. After that I didn't wear the contacts during the day in all that dust, only at night.

After returning to college in the fall, I began wearing the contacts all day for the first few days until my eyes became so irritated I went to the doctor that sold me the contacts. He told me that I had worn the surface off my cornea and that I needed to start all over after letting my eyes heal for a few days with training my eyes, a few hours at a time, to wear the hard contacts all day again.

Later, I was stopped by a County Mountie. He came up to my car, and said, “What is the matter, didn't see that speed sign back there?”

I said, “I have contacts and…”

The cop cut me off and replied, “I don't care who you know, I'm giving you a ticket for speeding.” ;-)

Yuck, I had a similar thing with a chemical on the contacts that caused my eyes to burn. AGONY! Yet antibios and cream did help until I was next seen. It is a dreadful thing.

Good news...you're seeing again. I can't imagine how painful that must have been.
