TURN FROM THE DARK
Turn not your back from our glowing sun For shadows may prophet, a blindness begun Life is the gift of sunlight and air! Come harvest the brilliance of bounty we share!!
Cacheted by consistance with posture set firm By custom controlled......so much yet unlearned! Shatter the cast......that armors the spark Circle the light......turn from the dark!
Like a powerful beam of light into a dark place, this penetrates like eyes of fire, Anita! So visionary as well. Love the visual - almost like a pre-Raphaelite painting. That last line is truly knock-out - "Circle the light... turn from the dark" - yet more lines to inscribe on the palms of my hands - with you I am running out of spare inches of flesh to write on!! What? The Prophet hath returned in the form of the one and only, Anita? What you have over The Great One is your exquisite flair for profound verse. Have you relocated to the Village yet? Great poem and the only thing I can say about poems such as these are surreal. That means I might not understand everything I read but damnit, I love reading it. And, yes, I read your explanation for us dullards. Good stuff.

I wish I read this before your definition, which goes to show the power of poetry. You were able to communicate your wish for all to return to what is innate; a connection with the universe and all things large and small. And you did that in about 56 words, as opposed to your definition, whose word count was 132 (definition only). No, I did not count them - I copied and pasted into Word and then clicked on WordCount.
Ok putting on my thinking cap here, and trying to figure out how to explain this poem lol. This poem was sooooooooooo much fun to write, I finished it in less then 10 minutes, and when I was done, was so happy with it. Then I went on line and did a picture search, for Sun Woman, and was doubly happy with the results. I sounded like one of the 3 stooges, I cannot remember which one it was......but the one who went uh uhhh uhhh! Guess I was doing a gorilla grunt of joy! lol

First Stanza
My reference to the sun, was intended to represent, knowledge, clarity, vision, from outer sources, like to keep yourself open minded.
Shadows - self doubts, narrow mindedness(especially!), agreeing with the pack, no independant thought, a lemming
Life-our basic gifts from the creator.
Harvest - its right there all the time, and its for all of us.
Second Stanza
Cachet-as in superior or approved status, meaning feeling superior in your beliefs and not being open minded, set in a mental posture.
Customs - going with the status quo, not being a fexible thinker, missing out on alot.
Cast- break thru our own casts, for within we have potential, we have that spark, which is our "light" knowledge,etc lol
Circle- feel that light within, and accept it from outer sources, as well
I hope this makes it clearer. And I would like to thank you for being gracious and saying that you didn't understand it, and not saying.....lol .....it didn't make any sense! LOL
I an going on my 3rd week of having bronchitus, fevers, and the flu. I am feeling spacey and have been writing with a metaphysical bent I notice. I work with little kids, and I write to keep my brain cells active.
lol.....who knows if it works?!?!?!

This poem sounds impressive when I read it. But, parts of it, I don't understand. I appreciate, very much, your talent and I do understand the importance of turning from the dark.
