Tonight I was searching through a family photo album, for a cousin of mine. His dad, my uncle had passed away and the family was collecting pictures of him. I didn't have any but had newspaper clippings telling of his days when he fought for the golden gloves, it was a sad search for me, but I came across this picture of my parents wedding day, which I alway thought was so lovely and so very 1950's!
Nineteen fifty-four Washington Heights wed Brooklyn Nineteen fifty-five...my birth
Two quickly married Impulsive youthful freedom Decade of custom
The cabs and subways Routes run the same now as then But the riders, change
NOTHING LIKE THOSE OLD FAMILY ALBUMS TO STIR UP MEMORIES AND GIVE THE 'GIFT' A NUDGE. THE HAIKUS ARE WELL DONE. THANKS FOR THE SHARE AND BLESSINGS. BY THE WAY; VERY NICE PICTURE. JOYCE
What a handsome, vintage couple - Sal Minio look about your dapper Dad, matched by the Bianca Jagger shade of your beloved mom. How lovely the stars in their eyes.
Yup, as riders we do change and the routes we travel get steeper and more tiresome at times. Vintage legs I suppose.
Ah yes, 1954, also a vintage year, the year I stuck my foot out and tested the first ripples of life.
And 1955? Why, that's your birth - or were you too young to remember :)
Look at that handsome guy with the wavy hair! And that beauty he couldn't resist!
I cropped my parents from a foursome at their wedding, sent it to my brother, and he blew it up into a poster for their 60th anniversary. Mom was a teenager and Dad clueless--but they made it work.
Blimey... what a dreamboat couple, Anita!! Like something out of Harpers&Queens or Vogue... or today's Hello! And yes, those subways - you're telling me! I was amazed. And Brooklyn... next time I come, I'm DEFINITELY straying across the Brooklyn Bridge... You so whet my appetite to return already... And the fifties was such a mixed decade, with all the sudden sense of well-being after the rigours of the war years, together with such a repressive obedience to form and propriety... but then, along came the Teddy Boys to sort all that out! But maybe things were a bit different Stateside... You got me going here for certain sure. We'll make that coffee next time! :)) Love, K xx
What a wonderful photograph and the memories it holds. A time when life was much less complicated and a simple handshake was a gentleman's word, unlike today....
Great! I had never thought about that last thought before. How timeless taxis and subways are-- a ritual that's nearly eternal-- but never, ever the same riders -- too true. Lovely picture. --Charlie
love this-my parents married around the same time--brought back a bit of nostalgia here too--hard to go through things when a loved one has dies--be well
Anita these are wonderful and so meaningful, as I was born in 1954 I especially liked the first one. Great picture and they were no doubt overjoyed at your arrival.

This book has been eight years in the making. It is mostly a jumble of thoughts written down in old spiral notebooks and hidden in the bottom drawer underneath various manuals for software packages and hardware long since turned obsolete.
Sexuality is very misunderstood. What if the tornado dropped Dorothy not into Oz, but onto the shooting set of an X-rated film?
Eric Edwards makes sex films. Period... Sex-on-command. Sex-for-hire.... So begins the story of Eric Edwards, Mr.
This book is a collection of short stories that depict events in Author's life while she lived in Romania, then in Greece, and last in America. It's a beautiful and very sincere account of a young woman's life and comming to age.
