Poem Artwork

Amazing indeed was the unfathomable body of Mr. Chaos

Who didn’t eat, even more, he didn’t evacuate his bowels. . .

But then he met with those who were drilling and chiselling,

In no time he got all the nine apertures: his eyes, ears, nostrils,

Mouth and the other two between his lower limbs. What a go!

Day by day, men toil for food and clothing; year after year—

Vexations about taxes and levies. . . The masses of people

Strive for a bundle of coins, forming a crowd and bawling

For all they’re worth. Truly, as it goes, they who play bowls

Must expect to meet with rubbers in this game of survival.

 Reviews of "Playing Bowls"
Reviewed on June 8, 2015
According to legends, the ruler of the Southern Ocean and the ruler of the Northern Ocean and the ruler of the Centre, whose name was Chaos, were continually meeting in the land of Mr. Chaos, who treated them very well. They consulted together how they might repay his kindness, and said, 'Men all have seven apertures for the purpose of seeing, hearing, eating, and breathing, while this poor ruler Chaos alone has not one. Let us try and make them for him.' Accordingly, they dug one aperture in him every day; and at the end of seven days Chaos died. That was the way the world was created in the place of the ruler Chaos's central kingdom. Cheers, alex
