Poem Artwork

As they say, these verses of mine

Tell of the “babbling nonsense,”

But the floods of someone’s tears

They certainly conceal. They all

Laugh at their author’s “oddity,”

But who could really understand

Their wake-up appeal and sway?

As my answer to them I rush to say,

“When a poem is sad and touching,

Then the sadder is its tomfoolery,

But we are all in the same position,

And this position is one long farce. . .

So, guys, what is the use of sneering

At its own distinctive buffoonery?!”

A poem is like a piece of artwork, everyone reads it differently. This is because people do not have the same life experience such as yourself. It is called point of views. Everyone interprets a poem in his/her own way according to what the poem appeals to him/her. I'd rather have my poem be read and interpreted in many different ways rather than just one way as I have intended it to be. This is because everyone lives a different life than ours. If everyone interprets a poem in the same manner, the poem would be very boring. Whenever I write a poem I want it to be read and interpreted in more than one way so it will not be too boring for the readers.

Like when you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning, you are looking at the front face of yourself. If another standing beside you looking at you sideway, that person would only see half of your face; and thus his/her point of view is not the same as yous.

Same when you look at an art display in an art gallery, everyone has a different opinion about that same piece of art, depending on where they stand when looking at the art object. Thus making the art display more exciting because it represents in more than one way to the viewers.

Our poems are of no exception. When a poem can be read in more than one way, then it is, in my opinion, a successful poem.

I agree that it is no use sneering at what one does not understand.
