Gaining knowledge in versification

Consists in daily increasing of one's vocabulary;

Following the natural way in wordsmithing

Consists in daily decreasing of stock of words.

To keep on decreasing means

To decrease some more

Till entering the state of awake silence --

The total lack of words in a point of time. . .

This means that in lack of words in poetry

Nothing will be left unpoetized;

In order to write a good verse a poet

Keeps away from smithing many words

As any endeavour to do it by virtue of poetizing,

Will only lead one to inevitable fault.

This is because trustworthy words

Are not beautified;

Beautified words are not trustworthy.

When the right hand of the Enlightened

Picked up a while flower, in no time

An airy smile on the face of only one

Among his many adherents

Illuminated the grand audience

With a new wordless wisdom.

Some of your thoughts here I agree with, others not. I have to admit, many of the the most memorable poems I continually return to read are those written free verse and occupying many stanzas, often pages. Granted, as with myself, the process of editing, finding the sounds, images and ideas that often too many words contaminate is a daunting task at times, but one that usually results in positively enhancing the healthy self esteem we all should strive for.

A wonderful play on the idea of words and their silence. We poets needs all the advice and help we can get. This is one of your better ones, easily accessible and touching various nerves. Nicely penned. John

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
