Mahayana (Greater Vehicle or Vast Vehicle) -- the Buddhist doctrine of seeking enlightenment not for oneself alone, but for all sentient beings; Hinayana (Lesser Vehicle or Modest Vehicle) is the doctrine which stands for the fact that the Buddha was a human instead of a god because he was simply a man who found a way to Nirvana. Mahayana followers think that it is better to help others reach Nirvana before you do, but Hinayana followers think that everyone needs to gain Nirvana by one's own.
Enlightenment is a long hard process...once I feel I have attained it, I then fall back several steps & screw up...just stay the course & enlightenment will come, just not maybe in this lifetime...-e-
