Late at night
I pass a snow-covered slope
And the full moon
Above the mountain range
Smiles on my back, mocking.
I hear her breath down my neck
And feel her gimlet eyes on me. . .
Thru the mantle of night I lay out my trail--
How come that a small fire
Is still smoldering in this heart.
A dying love can smolder in the heart for many years seems to be your message, one that is very true indeed, intertwined with the light of the moon, "on my back, mocking."
A bit confusing but I believe that the moon may have a power over the skier. Perhaps a reminder of another love when the moon was full. "Still smoldering."
