Well I am still stupid enough to drive a full size pickup so I guess I'm part of the problem. You forgot to mention the speculators who fuel the major price spikes. That's greed in its simplest form. Patrick

How Much GREED is Enough?

I doubt that they will stop until there is absoultely nothing left to plunder or pillage. Our 'leaders' won't stop them since they finance their campaigns, and very few citizens seem to care much at all about the raping of our nation - to increase the fortunes of a few.

I'm posting a very sad piece this morning - The Wasteland That We'll Call Home.

I totally agree. My last short story, Revenge of the Gulf, shows how far it can go.

I remember back in the fifties seeing one of those Ramblers and running back to my grandmother and telling her she should buy one. She bought a big 56 Buick Super to waste gas in. I drove a 57 FireDome DeSoto for a while with a hemi that got 20 miles to the gallon for a very large car.

Don't worry, Americans love fads. They'll jump to alternatives faster than Superman once the oil barons jack the price of fuel high enough.
