Just a correction as to the actual total debt of the US -

"In the early 21st century, debt relative to GDP rose again due in part to the Bush tax cuts and increased military spending caused by the wars in the Middle-East and a new entitlement Medicare D program. During the presidency of George W. Bush, debt held by the public increased from $3.339 trillion in September 2001 to $6.369 trillion by the end of 2008, In the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, and huge increases in spending, the debt held by the public increased to $11.12 trillion by the end of July 2012 under the presidency of Barack Obama." The US debt is running at $11 (eleven) trillion as of 2012.

Their Great Pretender Presidential Candidate recently declared that he would abolish FEMA and many other needed federal organizations if elected.

But now that Hurricane Sandy has struck just before the election he says: "We Need FEMA!"

PS: He spent about an hour placing donated food for hurricane victims into paper bags and declared: "Gosh! I Really Love Helping People!"

Need I tell you I totally agree with your forthright "rant", Tom? Good one!
I've come to learn there are more EGOS in the Republican Party than there is COMMON SENSE. Not all, I'm sure; I just haven't met many.Ya wanna be a lawyer? Ya better join the Rep-pub Party;wanna be a wanna be, etc.

Claim: You and the Feds can't afford Obama-care.

Common Sense:You're already paying for it!!! Who do you think has been paying for those who have NO Health Coverage? Have you checked your, your parent's Hosp, Dr. and Med. bills?? Surely, you can guess.

Claim: Don't mess with the "taxes" for the Rich and Rich Corps; this will cause excessive job losses.

Common Sense: Do you really think this is a valid claim....from the Re-pub candidate who has made $Millions buying up companies, gutting 'em while eliminating jobs galore and selling the companies for profits?

Claim: Energy waste. Re-pubs claim Obama wastes...Romney will fix.
The average home size in the United States was 2,700 square feet in 2009, up from 1,400 square feet in 1970.The average home of the rich is 10,000 sq. ft to 35,000 sq. ft.

Common Sense: Does it take a calculator to figure where the waste is? Re=pubs call for more drilling of oil an natural gas. FOR WHAT? So they can waste more? OK, so there's wealthy Demos, too. But, History proves which party leads our country - our people - from economic destruction. Would it be the party of Hoover? Or the party of F. D. Roosevelt; the party of and for the people. I was born in the early 30's, and I know who I want NOW and the country needs NOW.

The comments below, from another perspective, Show how people from other countries view the United States. They are not inferior to us and our patriotism, but more learned and insightful than the average American. Another maligned member here is a very precise economist. He has laid out the facts where people seem to be relying on beliefs. His latest factual information to me from Princeton University shows that the people are behind the president and meaningful progress. That does not mean that we will rid the country of the influence of big money or that will stop the shift of wealth to the wealthy, but at least the people will have had their say and not believe the hyper rhetoric from so-called “conservative” minds.

You can be commended for your rants--although the capital letters are unnecessary and may actually detract from what you are trying to say. You are certainly this Samuel Adams of this group.

Talk about speaking truth, and from the heart, wow, that's more like Amerika I've heard for the longest time, I've not read Marks story yet, I've got to yours first and couldn't help but put down my two cents worth while there were still warm off the pocket. My first computer and Cheney's efforts to make turture a legal structure, and Bush's unilateral declaration of war, his with me or again me, sure got my attention, and I wrote a blistering attack on their Nazi style approach to politics, I was insensed it should happen in the last bastion of freedom, (till then)at the time, along with fraudulant elections, wire tapping etc, etc, is what kept the Nazis in power for so long in the place I grew up in, the corporate giants as you mentioned also ran the presses and the shame that money printing was more important to them, then real news printing ( the first defence of freedom). Everyone cowered in fear of being called unpatriotic it seems, except for a few brave souls, that spoke out and spoke the truth, well these brave souls, certainly suffered for their efforts, they should be awarded the medal of honour instead today, to remind the public how close we came to the Rule by fear. Subversion of democracy it seems didn't matter then, for none know what it is not to have it, this cavalier attitude, by a certain public to your most priced possession is outrageous, I would even think traitoress, yes and they and others you mentioned, should have been prosecuted to the limit of the law, to show future would be kings the french blade. It seems there is need for the public to wise up, for if, the middle class as it happens loses it's last resource, the vote, say hello corporate kings, and goodby democracy.
