The following two poems
are 24 Years old.
They each had a few nice reviews,
so I thought I'd resurrect them.

Hope you enjoy something herein!

Will attempt to paste a Re-post here of two old poems.

When The Frost Is On The Pumpkin - Copyright: January 3, 1992

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

and the goblins are in the air,

we'll be goin' "Trick or Treatin",

at least those of us who dare!

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

and the moon is sinkin' low,

we'll bravely walk the streets again,

but it might be just a little ... slow!

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

and the ghosts are rattlin’ their chains,

we'll be loadin’ up on "goodies" then,

an’ countin’ out our gains!

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

and Freddie Krueger slithers by, we'll smile, 'cause we're not a-frightened, well not enough to cry! When the frost is on the pumpkin, and Count Dracula drinks his blood, we'll be walkin' then runnin' like "munchkins", oh Heavens, don't fall in the mud! When the frost is on the pumpkin, and the wolves are howlin’and growlin’ we'll be havin' such fun, that we'd never run, unless ... Frankenstein is prowlin’! When the frost is on the pumpkin, and Jason's mask is seen with a frown, we'll try our luck, with a hockey-puck, and score him straight out of town! When the frost is on the pumpkin, an' we're casually sampling our eats, if someone jumps out of the bushes, we'll just rely on our ... "feets"! When the frost is on the pumpkin, and a dark haze passes over the moon, we'll be headin' home, wishin'... it was the merry month of June! When the frost is on the pumpkin, an’ a chill is in the air, us lil’ hobblin’ goblins will gorge on our scrumptious fare! When the frost is on the pumpkin, we’ll beg to take our leave, we just gotta go "Trick or Treatin’" ‘cause it’s All Hallows’ Eve! ********************************** Back in the late Fifties, Lloyd Price had a big hit single, called "Stagger Lee." If any of you "Creatures" can remember the features of this tune - you may feel a slight resemblance thereto. That's the meter chosen. Two Fiends Who Gamboled Late ( word not mis-spelled - means Pranced ) Copyright: 10/19/92 Thomas K. Hyland, Jr. The night was grim, and the moon was amber, and the leaves came plunging down. I was standing by the porch-light, when I heard a meadowlark. He was chirping at two creatures who were creeping in the dark. It was Dracula and Wolfman, two fiends who gamboled late. Dracula was thirsty, but Wolfman had just ate. The hairy one said to the vampire, "Oh, please don't take my life, for I have three little puppies, and a very ... sickly wife." The night was grim, and the moon was amber, and the leaves came plunging down. Then Dracula raised his cape, and flapped into the air, leaving poor old Wolfman scratching his derriere. Dracula climbed high, then hovered, then began his dive, heading straight for Wolfman, like a beeline to a hive. The canine scrambled quickly, and hid under a great big bush; but the bat with teeth so prickly, promptly bit him in the "tush". The night was grim, and the moon was amber, and the leaves came plunging down. The howling and the moaning was piteous to hear, and Dracula was grinning, from pointed ear to pointed ear. Then Dracula shrieked out to him, "Stop crying like a babe, you shaggy giant, I was just a tad low, so ... I only took a pint". "Happy Halloween, my Friend ... you Fiend" hollered the one with wings. "Same to you, and many of them", from the hollow came the rings. The night was grim, and the moon was amber, and the leaves came plunging down. By now I was trembling in the porch-light, quite anxious to follow my feet, to return inside, and warm my hide, and resume my fireside seat. Just as I settled down, and picked up my remote, the doorbell rang with a clang, and my heart jumped up to my throat. As I cautiously turned the doorknob, which was a considerable feat, I heard a "pitter-patter" ..... as two little Hobgoblins shouted "Trick or Treat !" The night was grim, and the moon was amber, and the leaves came plunging down. © - TKH. HAPPY HALLOWEEN ... TO ALL MY FIENDS !!!

Sorry late on reviewing this. I liked both poems. The one about the frost on the pumpkin though brought to mind a naghty little ditty I learned as a mkid.

Nice two poems full of fright. These will really be good for all who believe in the Boo hullabaloo! I used to help out in a House of Horrors we would scare girls and young boys for hours. But these days I just don't have the time, there are better things to do. Boo Ho! Humbug!

When the frost is on the pumpkin,
and trick or treating is we ask.
I dress up nice and scary,
but my face has no need for a mask.

BOO!

Very Good, Cuz - and we could have used these in the epic Brother Ed Howloween Battles we had here several years ago when dear old Brother Edvard was still with us.

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

Old Jersey Devil Ed will be in The Barrens;

If you spot him, he will be dining on Road Kill,

This time of year, his devilish appetite never ends.
