Poem Artwork

He was eight weeks old

When we brought him home.

I had asked for the

“feistiest one you’ve got”.

Within 24 hours

We knew it was true .

The little ball of orange fur

Had so much energy.

He was bouncing off walls

And bossing the bigger cats around.

We had wanted a French name.

We thought Pierre would do….

As we watched our TV cooking shows

He raced and pounced

And climbed and flew

Through the air.

I said “you are

So spicy and sassy…

Maybe you should

Have been called

Peppercorn…”

And so it was done…

Formally named

Pierre Peppercorn

But

Peppercorn for short.

And does he allow anyone to touch the radio? Seems like he has a firm paw covering the dial.

Cheers,

Peppercorn looks like king of the fax machine.
And this poem is also pretty keene.

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
