In the bright fall sun
The rose loses her grip
On the vine.
In the brisk fall breeze.
Her petals fall
Like drops of blood
Onto the fall leaves.
Slowly her petals
will dry up
to become dust
under the weight
of the winter snows.
As the snow melts
In spring
She will slowly
creep back up the vine
To become
The first rose
In the hot summer sun.
